DIY – Raw Date & Nut Energy Balls. Sometimes I feel like a sweet treat, but I also don’t like eating too much sugar, so today I made these … feeling inspired by Sam’s post yesterday of her version of yummy Raw Energy Balls. This is also my first recipe DIY
My measurements may not be too exact, as I just sort of ‘winged it’ as I went along, with what I had available in the cupboard, so feel free to experiment too! You want to end up with a fairly sticky mix, that holds together. Mix in a mini blender or similar.
How to (makes about 20 balls):
- 1/4 cup raw pecans
- 1/4 cup raw peanuts
- 1/2 cup raw almonds.
- 4 fresh dates (pitted!)
- 1/4 cup sultanas
- 1/2 cup raw rolled oats
- 1 teaspoon honey (I used Capilano natural pot set)
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon wheatgerm
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Transfer to a bowl
- Add 1/2 cup puffed rice (I used Freedom Foods, Aussie Grown Rice Puffs)
- Mix gently and form into balls.
Enjoy! I’ve looked at the pre-made energy balls at the supermarket, but half of them was sugar and $1 each. These have honey and the natural sweetness of dates. You could also add carob button pieces (carob buttons come in a with sugar or sugar-free variety)
